Korvus Blackbird – Voice Character Actor

I recorded and engineered a demo for Korvus Blackbird. A voice character actor from New Orleans now living in Seattle. Korvus’ voice is very rich and earthy in tone. I used a few MASCHINE preset tracks for background music. We did this all in less than an hour. He simply just grabbed a few old magazines from my magazine rack just to inspire thoughts and everything was recorded in single takes with minimal editing. Check him out:

I was going to talk smack (in all fun) in the forums of The Seattle Laptop Battle, but decided to do a video instead. Sorry for the shaky screen. The camera stand was taking vibrations from the action. See you guys at chop suey!

The Seattle Laptop Battle is back for it’s 8th year! On Saturday, December 11th, 2010 Chop Suey will once again host 16 of the regions hottest up and coming laptop producers inna soundclash. 3 minute rounds means lots of frentic action and audio trickery to showcase each performers talents and tracks. Judges take song development, performance, emotional impact and crowd response into consideration when deciding who gets to move on in this single elimination tournement. The winner takes home a top of the line collection of software from our awesome sponsors!

All performers will receive a limited edition Laptop Battle t-shirt designed by Jerry Abstract, of which there will be a small quantity available for the public at the event only.

Future bass specialist Ill Cosby of Car Crash Set Records will be djing to get things warmed up this year. Battle veteran MC Ali continues his hosting tradition on the mic, and Killing Frenzy will be running his custom Laptop Battle visuals on the big screens.

Laptop Battle started back in 2003, when Kris Moon and Zach Huntting from the Fourthcity collective created the original concept of bringing people and music together. You don’t have to be an established musician, nor have high-end equipment to join; people use what means they have and create what they love. A wide variety of musical sounds are welcomed. The concept has caught on and spread from Seattle to Germany, Miami, Tokyo, New York, Italy, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, New Zealand, the UK and beyond.

The Rules:
1. Contestants can use one MIDI controller
2. Battles are chosen randomly
3. Battles are 3 minutes long
4. Judges decide the outcome of battles in a single elimination style

And yes, I am competing this year…

I reached out to Ken Jordan of The Crystal Method earlier this year with the idea of doing a remix of “Sine Language” as a FREE DOWNLOAD. A great single from their ‘Divided by Night’ album released last year. The track features LMFAO on some very fun lyric. There’s been a handful of remixes since then, but I wanted to share my mix as I’ve finally decided to get off my ass and slip it into the wild. Enjoy!
